Congressman Trent Franks Appointed as FY2017 NDAA Conferee
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08) released the following statement after being appointed by Speaker Ryan to serve on the bipartisan conference committee charged with producing a final National Defense Authorization Act to fund the military and secure the homeland:
"I am grateful for the appointment to be a House Republican conferee to work with my colleagues from both chambers to finalize the National Defense Authorization Act. Our military deserves to be equipped with the necessary tools and resources to protect this great nation and keep Americans safe home and abroad. The House legislation gives the men and women in uniform an increase in pay and caps co-pays for our troops and veterans. These benefits are well-deserved for the sacrifices they make day in and day out for all of us. America remains the land of the free because of these, the brave. I will fight to ensure our military's readiness issues are adequately resolved - when our troops must pull parts off aircraft in museums to keep their warplanes in the air, something is terribly wrong. I remain committed to ensuring our armed services receive the funding and resources they need to execute the missions we assign them until we send this legislation to President Obama's desk."
